Like most Salmon, Pinks are crazy about Jigs!  At Bent Rods we have designed a number of Jigs that are without equal at attracting the Pink Salmon. Both float fishing and Jigging techniques are deadly at catching Pinks.  As most anglers know, anything pink or cerise will attract these scrappy little fish.  Add some sparkle and flash and you have a very deadly Jig.
When Float fishing for Pink Salmon it is very important to keep your offering well off the bottom, in the Salmon’s window of vision; 1 or 2 feet off the river bottom.  The occasional ‘twitch’ of your Jig can also be a deadly tactic to elicit a reaction bite. Tipping your Jig with a small piece of raw prawn is a very effective way to increase hookups, as with all Salmonids.

The Bent Rods ‘Jigging’ style Jigs are also an extremely effective way to hook Pink Salmon. In fact- I would say that this method could be the absolute most effective way to catch Pink Salmon ever used.  For this technique you should seek out Pinks in slower moving water, especially schooled up or milling fish that can get a good look at your twitched Jig.
This technique is rather simple and once you get the correct action and rhythm, you will be astounded by how effect it can be.
You simply cast towards a school or group of Pink Salmon and let your Jig hit bottom.  Now perform a short firm lift and allow your Jig to sink to bottom again, reeling in the small amount of slack line in the process.  Keep doing this until you have the Jig all the way back to your position.  It is very important to keep this action going until you have the Jig all the way back in, as Pinks will often follow it all the way back and reward you with visual takes.
Give the ‘Jigging’ method a try and I feel you will be hooked, and amazed with this awesome technique.
